Below is the account of long time Big Spring resident Dorothy McKenzie. Some years back she met a man that was forty-one years younger. Before the family knew what was happening. Mr. Charles Ray Edwards was center stage at Christmas dinner. That began a seven year agonizing hell as Dorothy and her family struggled with the horrible consequences of coming into contact with Mr. Edwards.

Dorothy knew what he was doing to her before her end. She directed her family to stop him and anyone that helps him. Below you will find audio and video as well as textual documents that inform the events over these past seven years of continual abuse, abandonment, and fraud. The first recording below is her direction to stop him at all cost.

But there is much more to tell. Mr. Edwards has other things going on besides rape. Our research found not only the Sexual Assault Rape, but also Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, Fraud, Aggravated Robbery, and Aggravated Sexual Assault. We noted a particular error when research Mr. Edwards - a typographic one that indicated he was 7'1" feet tall instead of 6'1" - Here were those results and take it with a grain of salt... Click HERE to view/download the PDF. Mr. Edwards has spent a considerable amount of time in prison. How does he manage to not get caught anymore? Well, he cleaned up his act. Or, he is more skilled at what he does. Let's listen in on the very beginning when Mr. Edwards was attempting to fool his parole officer as he made his first try to trick Dorothy into marrying him.

But Officer Reyes was fired shortly after this. We have not been able to determine the exact reason. And no one will explain why to this day. This brings a spotlight to the local Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

The trick in action

Everyone that knows Dorothy also knows that giving her an ultimatum or telling her what to do is a bad idea. Her personality is to do as she pleased and she would often end up in trouble for doing it. When she heard that Officer Reyes had said no, she went to find a local pastor to do the deed. And then it all started. This was a classic move of manipulation for anyone with Mr. Edwards' knowledge and skill acquired from years of criminal enterprise.

Dorothy wasn't the only woman that Charles Ray Edwards wanted to help. While all of this was going on, Mr. Edwards was dealing with Michelle Johnson. Dororthy's daughter and grandson managed to get a meeting with Michelle Johnson before she died. Josh Hamby arranged a private meeting at the courthouse downtown Big Spring. They had discovered her case while researching Mr. Edwards. Since then Michelle Johnson had been trying to help. She trembled from head to toe recounting the past. The best way for you to comprehend what she went through is to read the transcript above. She had a similar story to Dorothy. The magnitude of abuse will be left to the court reporter's record. But hearing her tell it in a private setting was surreal and terrifying.
